On my friend's 98 Escort when he turns the car off the fan continues to run and it won't turn off. Any ideas?

 

To cool it off. It goes off after a min or two, right? It's just something they've been putting into newer cars to help prevent oil breakdown (which usually happens when you park your car)

Think of it as a kind of turbo timer for n/a cars. But not as cool.

 

Yea, but I don't think it's supposed to keep running for hours. the only way it goes off is if he unplugs the fuse controlling it.

 

might be a problem with the computer?

im not possitive what a 98 escort uses, but that would b the first thing that i could think of

hmmm.....i usta own a 94 escort....(whata piece of junk)

but maybe they have changed in the 4 years to a more computerized setup

 

i doubt that, seeing that they were discontinued not too long after that.

 

Could be a faulty temperature sensor, bad switch, something like that.
