Default front license plate

I just bought an 04 GT, but it didn't have a front plate. I am putting on plates from a state that requires them. There are dimples in the bumper, but I would think that there should be a bracket available so that the plate doesn't scratch the paint. Someone here knows the answer for sure. So what's the word, does ford have a plate bracket? I haven't troubled ford yet. I figured you guys would be faster

thanks
tom

yup, usually you get it in the glove box if you bought in a state that req's it from the dmv.

try your dmv maybe ? or go to ford. you may have to contact a dealership in cali or some other state that req's front plates.

personally though, i never put the front plate on, and never had trouble when i lived in cali.

ive never seen a bracket for the 99-04 GTs, or even the SN95 GTs also for that matter. I hate front plates so I keep mine off as much as possible. Another popular thing around here is zip-tying the plate to something lower and let it hang down under the bumper heh. Keeps it off the bumper and also flies back when ur driving lol. If u do want to screw it to ur bumper tho and cant find a bracket, u could put some foam tape or something behind the plate to keep it off the bumper.

keep it under the passenger floor mat and throw it on the dash if you get pulled over

Id just keep it off, i live in IL and they require a front plate, and i was pulled over once without my plate on and the cop didnt care. Just keep the plate somewhere in the car in case the cop cares.

Thanks for the input. A screaming yellow gt, attracts enought attention. I don't need to give a cop a reason to pull me over. I will mount a plate one way or another.
I have seen "one size fits all" brackets at the local parts store. I will ask Ford tomorrow.

thanks
tom

i felt the same way when i got my car, but i couldnt bring myself to drill holes in it so i got four pieces of the stick on velcro and put them on my plate and bumper. just press it down before you go out and it will hold over 70mph

good idea w/ the velcro. If the holes werent already in my bumper i wouldnt have drilled them either. Also, if it made a difference I would put the plate on my dash, but in NY it has to be on your front bumper or you can get a ticket. I do keep the plate and bracket in my backseat incase i have to make something up...
