Default Missing part syndrome

Ok, I will first admit I am an idiot, but I need a little help. I have rebuilt the engine on a 1989 Mustang LX 2.3L. Time constraints caused a problem. Engine was removed and dissasembled then 3 months later it was reassembled. The problem is the dreaded left over part. Can anyone tell where this bracket goes. It is a fairly strong piece of metal so I am thinking it is probably important and hopfully not to difficult to install. The engine is back in the car and is running. It had to be one of the earlier pieces removed due to the order I had layed the parts.

Thanks in advance for the help.
