Default Tranny Trouble T45

What was the stock transmission in the 98GT? T-45 right? And who was it made by, Borg-warner or Tremec? Im having transmission trouble and brought it to a shop and the mechanic said i have a tremec T-5...I bought this car used so anything is possible i guess? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!

Default what the emchanic said

when i went to go pickup the car they called the mechanic cause he wasnt in... All i got was he said its definately not a T5..wow...anyways its making not good noises when u push the clutch in and let it out, like almost letting it die, it makes a couple of low thumpung/clanging noises thats ahrd to describe, and he said there is a slight problem witht he 2nd gear synchro. But besides that he dont kno wuts wrong withotu opening it up and I should keep driving with it untill it gets worse and then coem back...uh...what u guys think i should do? get someone to rebuild it and fix wuts wrong, or buy a new tranny? and if so which tranny shud i get?

once a manual tranny granades it cost a lot more to fix. right now you might get away with new bearings, bushings and syncros. later on you may be replacing gears and other stuff if not the whole thing.

Mustangs haven't had the T-5 since 1993, The SN95 had the T-45 until mid 2001.

Have you ruled out clutch problems? Or can you deffinately feel/hear it in the transmission?

I wouldn't delay getting it fixed like Tim37 said it will only cost more if you wait.
