Default Clutch safety switch (semi-emergancy)

Hey all,
My car is not starting. In fact, it's refusing to crank at all. All the idiot lights come on, the battery is fine, but no ignition, not even an attempt. I've been led to believe it is the safety switch that is attached to the clutch, the one that insures you have the clutch depressed before you start the engine.
My question is, does anyone know how to test if that switch is bad? Also, has anyone bypassed the switch?
I'll order a new one, but I have to go to work tonight and the car is pretty much my only means, so the soonest I can get a new switch is like tuesday. Much thanks for any help.
**edit
PS it's not the theft deterrant system or the fuel pump, I'm pretty sure it's this switch

all it is is a two wire switch that closes when you press the clutch i think. you could unplg the switch and jusmp the 2 wires and you should be able to start it
