tires and rims for 2001 gt

i see 275x40x17 tires on 2003/2004 cobras. will these tires fit my car? what back spacing do i need? i want these tires on all four wheels. what width is best. i have not bought my rims yet.

It is common precedue to put larger tires on back and stock on front. Id go 275's in back and 245's in front.
