Tuning....
" There is no Replacement for Displacment " my friend always says this... and what i don't understand is why some smaller engines put out more horse then larger ones.
5.0 liter is a 302 CID engine
4.6 liter is a 280ish CID engine
With a simple Tune should the 5.0 be able to out perform the 4.6? bone stock.... What happens during the tune.... is the tune for the engine or the tranny or what? does it have to do with the computer in the car...
me being a fan of the fox body have biased opinions of the mustang which is better... i do respect have respect for any mustang though

RE: Tuning....
Its more about airflow and efficiency than it is about size. Which is why the DOHC 4.6 makes more power then the SOHC 4.6 for example. It can take it more air, and expell more air, putting its displacement to use.
Just like the 460's of the early 70's. My father had a 73 Mark IV, with a 460/4bbl. The car made 220 horsepower because of its low compression, and horrible flowing heads. 220 is roughly what a stock, 5.0 in a mustang makes.
