Default FOR ALL SELF INSTALLED CLUTCHES

I've been postin around with no avail! I have a 97 GT, and have a ford racing king cobra clutch kit for it. I'm gonna put it in in a few weeks, and I do not want to buy a flywheel (not enough $$) and I was going to have my flywheel resurfaced by a reputable shop by my house. I was also thinking of using the "medium" loc tite on the flywheel bolts and pressure plate bolts... any input let me know pleeeeze!

What is your question? Resurfacing your flywheel is fine. As far as the loc tite...Do it, Don't do it. Doesn't really matter. If they're torqued to spec, then don't worry about the loc tite. Not to mention it makes changing the clutch next time that much bigger of a pain in the ***. I probably wouldn't bother.

yes make sure u have the torque rating on the flywheel bolts, and get your self a clutch aligntment tool if it didnt come with one, if the transmission had synthetic in it to start with use synthetic again, if it didnt dont use it (some will argue) but you have a chance to leak fluid through your seals if u change to synthetic, i personally never had that problem but i know people who have

Done it many times...never used loctite....never had a problem. I am not sure how true this is but the Haynes manual says that the flywheels should not be resurfaced since there is some sort of contour on them....in other words the way I understand it is that they are not totally flat but are cut on a slope of some sort. I've never heard of this otherwise and don't know if it's true but it is in the manual. Maybe someone can verify this one way or the other.

I've replaced clutches, and didn't bother to do anything with the flywheel and they were also fine.

Just as everyone else has said......Don't use any loc-tite!!! If the bolts are in good shape i.e. threads, haven't been removed and retorqued numerous times, they will hold just fine with the proper torque specs. Think about this, a standard 302 rod bolt 5/16" is torqued to 24-30 ftlb (depending on manufacturer ), you don't see nuts flying off rods. Have the flywheel resurfaced, put in the clutch and get motoring!!

Flywheel bolts are meant to be torqued once. If you can tell me the thread size, torque spec and if there is any coating on the bolts, I can confirm this, showing all the steps
