Check Engine Light came o
Ok, well this was unexpected.... I just changed my oil today and all my spark plugs on my <FONT color=blue>1995 Mustang 3.8L</FONT> To get to the passenger side plugs I had to remove the stock intake setup which involved disconnecting the MAF unit from the sensor and a Vacuum line. After I got that done I poured my usuall B-12 Chemical in the crankcase to clean it out, I started the car without the intake setup on and let it idle for the recomended 5 minutes for the B-12. That is when the <FONT color=red>Check Engine Light </FONT><FONT color=black>came on. I figured it would go off after I got everything done. I finished the oil change after that and added the new oil and that </FONT><FONT color=limegreen>HP PLUS</FONT><FONT color=black> crap, 5qts of oil and 1qts of that HP stuff.</FONT></P>
So after I finished everything I went out and took it for a test drive, IT HAD SOME REAL KICK after all that but that damn <FONT color=#ff0000>Check Engine Light </FONT><FONT color=black>was on. I drove it down past Sunrise Mall and parked in the parking lot and turned the car off for a minute, then I started it again and it was still on. When I got home I double checked everything to make sure that I had it all connected properly, and sure enough it was.... </FONT></P>
So my question is, How do I reset it so that the light goes off? Or is there something else that I can do that will make the light go off (aside from pulling the bulb) <IMG src=smileys/smiley11.gif border="0"></P>

Thanks guys.</P><edited><editID>NeoTokyo</editID><editDate>38025.0008564815</editDate></edited>
Mazda there is NOTHING wrong with it, the light should not be on. I just got done servicing it myself, trust me, I know what I did to make it come on, now i just need to know how to turn it off
Ok, I will try that, but an article I read says that for the 1994-1995 models just disconnecting the battery wont reset the computer. Are there any other suggestions?</P>
if that doesnt work, you will just have to take it to the shop so they can reset it, of find someone with a obd2 scan tool <edited><editID>100th96cobra</editID><editDate>38025.4326388889</editDate></edited>

The CEL came on because you started the engine <FONT color=red>withoutsetting up back the engine intake</FONT> , now I thought you were some kind of a gearhead, modifying block engines and chevelles and what not. This is proof of how clueless you are about cars. I knew it all the way by the way you asked if therewas a wayof boosting a stock V6 engine with 60 lbs of boost w/o having problems?--ridiculous.I have nothing against you, I just dontlike quackers and braggers.</P>
<FONT color=black>The CEL code remains in the computer even when you fix the problem. To reset the computer you are going to have to disconnect the battery, as you said that may not work, but I'll try it first. The other option take it to a shop with a code reader and pay $65.00 or buy a basic OBDII scanner ($140-if your car is OBDII compatible which I dont think it is) and erase it yourself. The Scanner would become handy later anyways so it is worth spending on it. Good luck. OBD scanner below: </FONT></P>
