Default AOD shift kit

Is a shift kit better for the trans? Are they easy to install? What is the best brand out there?

Thanks!

A shift kit could be a life saver, automatic aod and aode transmissions are referred to as "slush boxes" or the "mustangs weak link" a shift kit is deffinitley a must have, however it will not make you bullitproof. I have run a B&M shift kit on my last 2 transmissions. If you race or pound on your car alot expect for it not to last all that long without the kit. B&M is a great brand and i still have an auto transmission with a B&M in it.
It is hard to install, you need to drop your transmission pan, and remove the valve body, it is necessary to drill some holes.. Its better off to let someone who knows what the deal is do this to your car.. also when you drop your pan your going to need transmission fluid.. I run Royal Purple in everything i have... It is horsepower proven

brand: trans go
run all synthetic fluids

however, if you have a 99 up, i would just get a diablo tuner so you can adjust the preasure and shift points, as well as tune the car and be able to correct for gears later on.

Any good idea how much it would cost for it to be installed? How much would the kit itself be?

Hmm, I heard that B&M are not as great as transgo? Is this correct?

Also, for a 01 GT, do we have a AODE or 4R70W trans?

did some research and it seems to me like everyone prefers transgo over b&m. I just bought a transgo for 116- off summitracing....i am going to have it installed next month along with a new rear. I have mine diabotuned so i shift pretty good now but it will be better with the kit
