Default '00 STARTER

Anyone know how to replace a starter at home? My steering wheel won't turn, my pedals won't push in, and there's a grinding noise when I try to start it. Honestly I have no idea what's going on, I'm just assuming it's my starter...if anyone can offer ANY kind of advice, it'd be verrrry helpful lol (I know this post is REALLY lame and probably doesn't make much sense- I just have no idea what's going on with my car and I'm stressing)

Go to your local auto parts store and get a haynes repair manual if your not sure how to change the starter. It will tell you step by step how to do it. Very helpful manual to have.

thats doesn't sound like a starter at all i have know idea why the pedles wont work and the steering wheel won't trun but that shouldn't have any thing to do with the starter.

thanks guys... the only reason I would really say it's the starter is because it doesn't turn over.. I even watched my boyfriend try to start it with the hood open and it's just screwed. =(
