Default New Key

I recently purchased my first Mustang and it only came with one key and 1 key fob. The dealer I purchased from said it would be somewhere around 150 to get a new key cut and programmed. Is that the going price these days for new keys?
I've looked around and it seems like it might be easier to just have a Ford dealer cut and program one. Any one have a personal experience doing this on their own?
Also, Anyone have a good "honest" dealership they trust?

That sounds about right, and there really is no way to do it on your own. I am pretty sure only the dealership can do that. You shouldn't have bought it with just one key IMO...

Hind sight, I completely agree. It was my first purchase from a dealership and I let everything happen quickly. I did ask about it and they said they would look. It wasn't until I after everything was signed they told me they only had one set.
Live and learn I guess.
Thanks!

Yep has to been done at a dealer. I have been a customer of Cherokee Ford for many many years. They have always treated me right and never let me done.

I errm, had the same thing occur with my car, I even asked about a spare, came by next day with paperwork for my old car - Nope! Only one they had...

Did I see you over in Kennesaw yesterday by chance?? Think I saw your car or one very much like it at the front of the pack at a light as I went by.

I figured it was a dealer only service. From all my reading it seems they use the cars system to create the paired keys. Lesson learned. Thanks everyone for you input!

That had to be it, I did a triple take and even started to wave but realized who the heck is gonna notice a wave after the fact.. Looked like the same color and everything.

Your twin looked pretty nice!

Cherokee Ford in Woodstock or Alpharetta? I live in Woodstock and use Cherokee Ford when it has to be something that only the dealership can do. Plus my step dad worked there....
