so ya i said last week that some weird sounds were comming from my back but wasnt sure what it was. turns out both of my flowmaster axlesbacks are broken, the v shaped chambers on the inside that are welded had started to come unwelded.. and rattle very bad when you accelerate at all.. has anyone heard of this problem at all or did i just get a defective piece of garbage? im thinking of going borlas, x pipe and lts now..

RE: flowmasters came unwelded..
Oh the older model 99-04 mustangs, the stock exhaust from the headers back from 2 1/4 inch so getting a "cat back" exhaust system was the best since it upped that to 2 1/2 inch. But on the 05+ stangs the stock exhaust system is 2 1/2 and almost all the "cat back" exhuast system i have seen, including the Borla one, are just 2 1/2. So you are replacing it with the same size. I don't see the point in spending the money to get the same thing you already have. Now if it was 2 3/4 or 3 inch then yea but other then that, it's a waste of money in my opinion. I am by far no expert on this stuff but the only thing i could see someone saying is that the Borla pipes are "made" better or stronger or whatever but i highly doubt it would be any better then the stock exhaust pipes. At def not for the money you would spendon the cat back vs axle back.

RE: flowmasters came unwelded..
I heard that the cat back systems only have like 4-5 bends where the stock has like 11 which I guess makes it a bit louder but I agree for the most part an axleback will be just fine.

I have Pypes o/r H, and axle back flows, if it got any louder I wouldn't be able to drive 5 feet without getting pulled over, I already have to take it easy. This combo is awesome..... When I really get on it the sound level is rediculous.
