Coil problems?
Has anyone else here heard of coil problems? Last week I got a check engine light and Ford said it was a misfire at start up.
Anyway they ran a program on it and when driving home the check engine light blinked once then a the car ran like on 4 cylinders
and the reset itself like nothing happen.
Now today weeks later it did it again. The dealer told me to bring it in tomorrow after work. He said they have had problems with
the coils on other mustangs. Has anyone here had this problem. I have 22,500 miles on it.
Just what is the coil anyway?

RE: Coil problems?
Your not alone. I have an 05 GT with 36,000 miles. I've occasionally had a miss in the engine, usually while getting on it in 2nd. It did kinda feel like it was running on 4 cylinders, but the check engine light didnt come on. I thought it might be the coils.
The coils replace the distributor on older engines.

RE: Coil problems?
Do you have any mods? I talked to the service tech and they said one thing that could be causing it is if I over rev the motor. Now I have more rpms than the standard 5900, I have about 6700rpms thats because I have a C/L CAI kit with an SCT tuner with brenspeed tune. This is the necessary evil that is done when you get a cold air induction kit. Anyway to get back to the story I was saying, the tech said if you over reved it it can make your engine temporarily shut down so to speak to save you from blowing up the engine. I feel about sick now. The Service Manager did tell me the other day to not worry about it that it was probaly a coil going out and that he would fix it. He knows about the CAI /with tune. Heck I got permission from him before I installed it. I know once I heard 757gt saying he was having problems but I haven't heard of him of late.
