Update on 2004 GT vert vs 2006 GT coupe
I had traded in my 2004 GT Premium vert with 8000 miles for a new 2006 GT Premium coupe - both stock, 5-spd. My out-the-door price was $27,900. On paper they gave me 18,000 for the GT vert. (it's still on the Plantation Ford web site under used vehicles). I love the 2006 GT but miss the convertible (I live in south Florida).
I have had the 2006 for a little over a month and I would like to get the 2004 vert back (Idecided I will eventually get a new vert but can't afford it now).
Here's the situation:
I called the dealer and they told me they would sell me the 2004 back for $18,500 but I would take a "Big Hit" on the new car. I told them I would accept $24,300 (this I got from Kelly/NADA and it was for a 2005!) for the new GT (it has 700 miles on it). I think they made good money on the first deal and would also make money on this deal, The sales manager said they could not do this deal - they said they could not even give me the $24,300 for the new 2006 GT.
I will try to take it to Carmax and see what they offer - has anyone had any experience with them? What do you think I would get from them for a 2006 GT Premium Blk/Blk with 700 miles? At leaset NADA? I have seen a used 2005 GT premium for sale on their site for 27 - 28K so I know whoever bought it would make money - a few thousand at least.
Also, what would be the best way to sell my car now - I am willing to take $26,000 from a private party rather than be raped again by the dealer (or Carmax if they are not reasonable)
Thanks for any help/advise or comments.
Regards

Verts weigh more and have more flex in the body...so performance wise...ya, sucky. And the engine would be a downgrade as well...
I really don't see why on earth you'd get a better performing car and then want to go back to what you had before (other than just missing it because you were used to it). On top of how much you are saying you are going to lose in the deal...and the fact the vert has two more years of wear-and-tear already on it.
