Predator settings
V8 2005 Mustang GT Premium 4.6L 3V 5 speed automatic w/ OD 4k mi. Pirelli P235/55 ZR17 98 W m+s all around (W= 168 mph); stock throttle body: It is a twin 55-57? mm aperture; 87 BP/Amoco used for hard street driving
currently no mods
will install K&N Air Charger 63-2565 for allegedly 15.26 hp, leave neg battery off for 1 hr to allow stock computer to reset, then will drive...to allow stock computer to reset again
then will use Predator U1740 to tune
Any suggestions for setting parameters such as (rev limiter), etc.
if i am willing to go for 93 octane...
Any suggestions for different setting parameters (rev limiter), etc.
i want more power but don't want to blow the engine.
anyone care to guess at the top speed once i'm done?
FYI: GTech Competition 13.55sec 1/4 mi it says 103-107mph but Magellan V GPS says 96-98mph. i assume GPS is right.
Thanks for your input

RE: Predator settings
Go with the 91 or 93 tune if you can run the fuel all the time. Reset the short and long term A/F parameters to 0 and allow it to relearn starting from scratch. Rev limiter, how brave are ya? Mine is at 6800 but have pulled 7 on the dyno. Leave the global timing alone unless you are dynoing with a wide band A/F or really know what you are getting into. You can also reset your speed limiter if you want. Some 3:73 gears will probably increase your top end even though your rpms will be higher. Makes OD pull harder. Mine is a stick so I went with 4:10'S. My 5 cents worth.

RE: Predator settings
The download gives you all three of the tunes with the most recent updates. In your Predator it is listed as the Performance Tune. It doesn't actually say 93 tune. Hope that helped!

RE: Predator settings
Very true, I placed a customer's Ford Lightning on our dyno, looking to see first that his AFRs were correct we proceeded to advance the timing globally. We were able to unlock a good bit of power from the conservative Predator (Performance) canned tune. I wiil say this, the over all design of the piggy back is made so that the tuner or person messing with it will not blow his/her engine carelessly. There is just so much timing and AFR you can give and take from the system.

how did u arrive at 6800 rev limit...what was your rational for not higher?
also a concept /technique problem/?. Everytime u smoke tires u r losing traction. i am totally uninterested in paying for rubber. but i am interested in getting from point A to point B (1320' away) in as small amount of time as possible currently 13.55, 13.51. i assume the solution is to push foot to firewall slower initially as opposed to just stomping hard and holding it on floor at point A .
also in a V8 2005 Mustang GT Premium 4.6L 3V 5 speed automatic w/ OD. Pirelli (PZERO NERO) P235/55 ZR17 98 W m+s all around (W= 168 mph) 32 psi x4 per door jam ; stock throttle body: It is a twin 55 mm aperture; 87 BP/Amoco do u know what final automatic OD gear ratio is, I think i am looking for a number less than 1.00
(as u would use in formula http://www.seniorsix.org/e3info/speedcalc.html )

RE: Predator settings
First off im guessing your real 1/4 is more around 13.7, especially with the predator since it doesnt adjust shift pressure. Since the car is an automatic 6800 rev limiter is fine, best shift point is at 6250. I launch the car around 2k. Hold the brake, rev it up, and when you let off the brake floor it. I would say do a little burnout, not enough to make smoke, but since your using one of those gtech things im guessing your on a regular road so theres not much use. That works for me at the track and i barely get any wheelspin. Take it to a track that way you know for sure what its running.

RE: Predator settings
Per my dyno sheet I am not building any more power by running a higher rpm beyond 6300 to 6400 so I am trying to stay safe at 6800 limited rpm,s. As for the launch, I am running a stick so our launches would differ greatly. I try to launch at 1500 and then backpeddle if I am spinning and then WOT again. I don't waste my time with a burnout, just a little spin to clean the tires up. The Toyo's that I am running hold great traction unless they are stone cold.
