I guess I don't know what you mean. If you mean, what gear do you launch in when running the quarter mile, I would hope everyone would say first. Otherwise that tells me you have too much gear. If you mean at varying speeds, then gear would depend on speed. I don't really understand the logic to this poll/question....

no I'm talking about a 5-Speed, my buddy launches in 2nd he says he gets better times since 1st is soooooo damn short and he saved time in the 1-2 shift

I have 4.10's (amoung other things) and I launch at 5000 rpm in 1st gear. My burnouts are done in 2nd gear at 4500 rpm.
EDIT - I don't see how you can have a great 60' launching from 2nd.

on the street 4000 in 1st works awesome, tires are cold so its spins out of the hole, but man does it leave hard. im going to the track saturday for the first time on drag radials so ill let ou know bout that sunday
