Default 91 OCTANE VS. 93 OCTANE

We don't have 93 in the town I live in,could get 93 in the larger towns to the east or west.Just wondering what the diff. is between 91 and 93,would I notice a diff, by the seat of the pants.Any #s would be great.I'd like to know if it is worth the trouble, the $ between the two doesn't bother me,it's the hassle to get the 93.
Thanks in advance

generaly your car will be smoother with high oct fuel ,but the true usage is a motor that is built and tuned for the higher grade fuels.without mods your car wwont really do anything different but lets say u started modding the car.a supercharger will run fine on 91 but swap pullies or a higher psi and your car will need HOF.YOUR COMPRESSION WILL HAVE AN AFFECT ON THIS ALSO.

I forgot to say that I will have the SCT tuner, what I would like to know is what the power diff.is between a 91 octane tune and a 93 octane tune is.Guess I need to wake up and explain my question better.I will also have the CandL CAI.I've never ran anything in my 06 except 87,but it is bone stock.

If it's stock, run the 87 octane. You're engine is designed for this. Higher octane gas will only drain your wallet.

With higher octane fuels, many don't understand that they have a lower heat output when burned (by design). In addition, many formulators use ethanol as the octane booster, which really lowers the energy content of the fuel, and ultimately decreases your mileage.

The only upside of using higher octane fuels is that they COULD, and I say COULD, have a better additive package to help keep everything clean on your engine's top end.

I myself, with a stock GT, and with all my cars, use the cheapest 87 octane fuel found and always add some fuel system treatment (I use Amsoil PI) to ensure everything stays clean and lubed on the top end.

Bottom line - high octane fuels typically cost up to 30 cents more per gallon, but actually costs the formulators less than 5 extra cents per gallon. High octane fuel in a car that doesn't need it just drains you pocket and gives it to the oil companies (just as they want you to do!).

You really shouldnt see to big a diff(maybe 1-3hp). Make sure you ask for a 91 octane tune though when you get your tuner. If you go through brenspeed.com he has his own 91 oct. tune to take the most advantage of that octane. Hope that was helpful.

just putting in 93 will not nec increase power at all, but it will decrease your wallet. however, if you get it dyno tuned specifically to 93 octane, there is more power potential than doing so with 91. personally, i make plenty of power on 91 so i have no complaints.
