Default drag radial help

[sm=feedback.gif] Hi all: I want to use drag radials at the track and I need some advice!
2006 GT 3.73 Gear ratio with 18" rims, 235/50/zr18 tires. what would be a good size for a drag radial knowing my diff and tire size? I need some good advice! I was told by the Tire Rack to put on 265/40/zr18 and change the back rims to 9.5" wide. How does this sound to you guys? Is anyone running a good combination with 3.73? If so, where can I also find rear steel 9.5 rims or equivelant(ideas) for my 06 GT.

The only tuner change that is needed is to reset the ratio to correct the speedo. Other than that, burn rubber!

I would look for some stock 17" pulloffs and use the drag radials on the 17's. With drag radials, oyu need sidewalls. the 18" just doesnt give you any sidewall strength. I have BFG's, and I spin the crap out of them. Im going to a 15-16 inch slick next, trying to find a hookup that works. I do hear that Nitto drag radials have a softer compound, so If you are set on drag radials, Id start looking there.

I know the search feature works great...NOT [:-]- so I'll give you the inside scoop on tires AGAIN....

The Nittos, BFG, and Mickey Thompson ET Drag radials ALL use the same compound as regular radial tires so your're kind of wasting your money - SORRY...

The best drag radial tire for us is hands down the MT ET STREET. It uses the same compound as slicks and is the best performing drag radial for our cars hands down. Get some cheap 17X10 rims and run the 26 x 11 1/2 - 17 tires. Set the psi at 11.5 and do a farily good burnout and see how much better your launches are...

What do you suggest to do to get a 17X10 to clear the rear sway bar?

[sm=dontgetit.gif] Why wouldn't it clear the rear sway bar? I know I have aftermarket, but everyone I know out here is running these MT ET Streets (26X11 1/2 - 17) on stock rear suspensions with no problems. I'm curious why you think a 17X10 won't fit? You should easily be able to fit a 17 x 10.5 rim on a stock GT?
