Default Track Times

I have an Automatic 2006 Mustang with C&L CAI, SCT II Canned Brenspeed Tune, Steeda UDP's, Pypes O/R H-Pipe and SLP Loudmouth's running on stock tires.

I went to Moroso 2 days ago and ran my car for the first time. My best run was:

R/T: .577

60': 2.009

330: 5.545

1/8: 8.455
MPH: 84.79

1000: 10.972

1/4: 13.080
MPH: 105.69

I went out and picked up and installed some Steeda Chrome Moly Steel Lower Control Arms today and took it back to Moroso tonight. Trying to improve my 1/4 time but my best run was:

R/T: .306

60': 2.093

330: 5.637

1/8: 8.546
MPH: 84.75

1000: 11.041

1/4: 13.170

MPH: 105.89

I was so pissed I didn't make it into the 12's because I thought for sure the LCA's would have made the difference. But I did consistantly run 13.1's all night compared to the previous night so I was somewhat satisfied. But Are there any other suspension mod's or anything else that could possibly get me into the 12's? I was thinking of getting maybe throwing on some Drag Radials, or some JBA Long Tube Headers. Any Advice you guys have would be great. My goal is to run a 12.5, before I do some engine work and throw on a procharger.

Drag radials made a 1/2 second improvment in my times. It must be nice running near to sea level. That makes a big difference too
I suggest mickey thompson ET street. if you want the most, not the MT drag radials. The ET street is still DOT approved, but a much softer compound, the same rubber as the drag slicks

Lucy, with those Mickey Thompsons, do you just put them on and drive to the track with them? Guess you would have to do a little burnout to clean them off first.

Phosty, I know you wanted in the 12s with the LCAs but those were some pretty good times considering the mods, especially that 13.08 with those mods and it being your first time at the track with your Mustang!!!! I'm going back to the track on Wednesday, this time with UDPs and 3.90 gears and see if I can get lower in the 13's, I'll faint if I get into the 12s!!!!

I lay down the back seat, put them in the trunk, with a hydraulic jack, then, when I get to the track, I change the rear tires, and use a cable to lock my wheels and the jack to a power pole or something! Kind of an adaptation of the old bicycle lock. It would be easier to trailer the car, but that takes a lot of time, and isnt really necessary. Im not a 10 second car, after all, still get 19-20 mpg on the road.

Frost, I have the same mods as you minus the pullies... and I'm a manual. Best I could do was 13.2.

Yeah, the trailer is not an option for me either, that's why I was asking. I might try the backseat idea down the road, for now I just want to see how fast I can run the 1/4 mile with street tires. When you think about it, it doesn't mean as much that your car can run 3-5 tenths of a second faster with drag radials if most of the time you're going to be running with street tires, unless you run the car at the track often and get into contests and things like that.

drop your air pressure in the rear tires to 25psi up the fronts to 50psi. do a very light burnout just to clean off the tires and get a little heat in them. place two bags of ice on the intake manifold and t/b for about 20 minutes prior to each run. that was worth .10 sec for me. also remove spare tire jack etc. thats worth about .05 sec. you car really runs good with the mods you have. that brenspeed tune must be good. i think with a good converter and some drag radials you have a mid 12 sec car easy.

Yea I'm very lucky to be running at sea level but the only problem down here is the damn humidity. I was reading online last night and I am def probably going to get the MT ET Street but I'm curious, because they are a softer compound how many miles do you usually get out of them?

Yea I was really happy I ran that 13.080, but when your so close to the 12's you start getting that 12 sec bug that doesn't go away lol. Good luck at the track though, those UDP's will def make a difference, and those gears should help out alot...keep me posted on how you do!

13.2 isn't a bad time at all, but your probably like me and want into the 12's...you should def get some UDP's...you can def tell a difference when they are installed.
