RE: gas prices?
I got regular for my Honda today for $2.87 at a Tom Thumb grocery store in Garland, TX (Dallas area--it is 2.89 but they knock off 3 cents if you wave their little plastic "foodstamp" under the reader. The Honda Civic HX did 43.1 mpg on that last tank with the AC on!
Last premimum I bought for Bluebonnet was $3.10/gallon at a Sam's in Garland.
Saw one Shell station this morning: Reg 2.999 Mid 3.099 Prem 3.199. [sm=boosign.gif]
Bluebonnet has been parked in the garage awaiting her Saleen SC. She'll stay parked too except for the occasional weekend jaunt!

RE: gas prices?
Are we all this ignorant.....? What the hell are the facts? I follow world events and the consumer market very closely, and I just don't see the catalyst for this run-up in oil prices. Speculators and market ****** are killing us.
I'd rather pay high taxes for troops and domestic programs than to give my money to geeks who make money off our ignorance.
My opinion, and I'm sticking to it....

I recall in 1973 going to Jacksonville with my Daddy (I was 12) and we were buying Texaco Sky Chief (premium leaded gasoline 100+ octane) for $0.27 a gallon. Regular leaded (94 octane) was $0.23 per gallon. The most expensive stuff you could buy at that time was Amoco Premium Unleaded (100 octane--white gas as we called it--it was crystal clear and smelled like benzene, which it probably was!) and that went for a whopping $0.34 per gallon.
Then came the dark times, the Arab Oil Embargo, Iran hostage deal, and prices doubled and tripled over night.
I have lived to see gas increase its price by one order of magnitude (10X)!

Just hauled the Harley over to Laughlin Nevada for the annual River Run (60,000 Motorcycles in a small community) pulled into Needles CA (armpit of CA) and the freeway stations were $3.87.9 Gal. went over the bridge into Arizona (Bullhead City) and was $2.89.9 gal. Amazing what a difference 15 miles makes.
BTW my 05 F150 towing the bike trailer got avg. 10.7mpg - gawd I want the mustang's 25mpg!!!!! these prices suck.

This might shock all of you!
I'm from Sweden, here we pay about 1.50$ for our Regular (95 Octane is Regular here).
But that is for 1 liter, and one liter is about 0.22 of a gallon, so that means about 7,5$ per Gallon.....

RE: gas prices?
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure european prices are inflated due to high taxes. Then the money is used for public transportation projects which is something the US could learn from. We're spoiled on gas prices true...but we haven't got much in the way of alternative transportation. It's a big part of being an american since the days of horse and buggies. It gives us independence and in some circles your car is a reflection of your identity. I wish I could hop on a train and travel across country, get on the subway or L train and get around any major city. Then driving would be a luxury and not a necessity. High gas prices might make sense then, but as dependant as we are it hurts when prices double every year. Some places have their sh*t together...NY, chicago, etc... but most of us have to pay at the pump to get to work, or school, or the store, or anywhere. I would be ok with the gas prices if there were a good comprehensive plan to stabalize, cap, or atleast explain the daily hikes in cost to the consumer.

2.79,2.89.2.99 here in Charleston , South Carolina. Acourse I have to buy the 2.99. I still think that most stock mustangs should run more
octane then what they call for. To me running 87 octane in a car like ours isn't going to give you the best performance.
