traction control light
i brought my car to a shop to get new wheels on it they ended up breaking the nut by over tightening it and had to cut the stud off, and it took them two trys and it still isn't done right i told them im taking it somewhere else to get it fixed, but today my check traction control message came on and the abs brake light and its making a swishing sound like a train amybody know what might be wrong, please help
I had an ABS problem when I put the larger tires on the car, but fixed that with my SCT tuner to compensate for the change in size. Not sure about the TCS though, I did not have that problem. Did you change your tire size and from what to what.
If they are beaking studs by tightening, I would def go somewhere else and have it looked at and make sure they didn't do any other damage. Also, did you stay with the stock rims or did you change them and to what? Last thing I could even remotely tell you is to see if the put a hub centric ring on if you changed from stock rims and make sure it fits properly, if it was even needed at all.

I went from teh stock 17 in rims to 20 in foose speedster rims the front is 8.5 in the back is 9.5in, i walked in on them and i was wondering what they were doning around the tire, i don't think they were gonna tell me about it if i didn't catch them doin it, this hapened friday and i told him i want it done right so i would get the stud and he said he had and to come in monday so i did and then they told me it would be 20 min so i wait and he comes back in and tells me its the wrong part again, they also put a kit on for me and the sideskirt had a dent in it and they were supposed to fitake it off to fix it and he tels me they can't take it off because they glued it on, so i told them to forget it, and while they were trying to get the stud in theydented and chiped the rim so now they are ordering a new one
and when i got home from work after it started making the noise, i checked it out and the front piece that gets tightened on musta have fallen off and teh stud that must not fit is in there moving around
You can use this link to see the tire difference. Just plug in your original tire size, then your new tire size and tell it to calculate. If it is more than 3% then it is recommended you get it adjusted, I did mine via the SCT tuner.

As for the other stuff, sounds like you ran into some real butchers. I would make them fix everything until you are satisfied and then start the process through BBB etc.
Good luck with it.

Assuming there is a similar deal with the stangs of two years ago, if the front tire is any more than about 2% taller/shorter than the rears, the traction controll will constantly be going off... The traction controll unit uses the amount of turns on each tire to calculate if any tire is turning more than it should so see if it needs to engage the traction controll mechinism... By having tires that are different diameters, the car thinks it is having excessive wheel spin and therefore turns on the traction controll. I discovered this by putting different size snow tires on the back of my 03 stang... Bad idea unless you want to live with the traction controll disengaged.
otherwise it seems like you had about the worst shop help i've herd of.. Bad luck man... Don't let them get away with that crap!
