Default Engine Stutters??

O.K., I've had this happen to me twice now. Cruisin along in fifth gear and come up on a slower car. Down shift into fourth and when i hit the gas the car begins to lurch like it's trying to shut off or is starved for fuel. R.P.M. range is about 1,700 before shift and goes above 2,000 when engaging fourth. Does the 2006 GT have a rev limiter? Any ideas? Thanks.

I remember seeing a TSB on something like this. After a long cruise, air bubbles form in the fuel pump and cause what you basicaly descibed.

Thank you. Being new to this I have a question. What's a TSB and does anyone know what has to be done to resolve the problem. Again, thank you.

A TSB is what ford releases for the mechanics to refer to when troubleshooting a problem. It stands for Trouble Shooting Bulletin. Ford will fix it as a warranty issue. As I recall, they replace the fuel pump.
