Whining from rear end

Whining from rear end
Drivin home last night on the highway i got off and everytime i turn there seems to be an annoying whining noise from somewhere in the back. My Camaro had the same noise but i blew out the rear end on that. I have never raced or driven it hard, my dealer said make an appt. But I'm wondering if any of ya'll know what it could be. It only does it when i'm turning with TCS off or on.

I had a similar problem. The shop that did the work on my car said that they hadn't put enough friction modifier in the rear end. They put two bottles in and the whine is gone. I had no idea what they were talking about, but I looked it up. Something to do with the clutch in the limited slip differential.

There is a TSB out on the '05s about the problem (ford tsb 05-21-2). To solve the problem, they changed the composite disc from a solid to to segmented disc. Even though my '06 had the upgraded clutch pack, one of the steel discs showed severe chatter on both sides. They test drove my car, ordered the parts & installed them the following week. It is safe, though annoying, to drive the car until your parts are in. FYI, in my case, it happened at the 3500 mile mark.

i had the same problem and ford replaced my ring and pinon. i even bought a ford racing 4.10 and they installed it for free all i had to pay for is the gear, and that solved my probem.

RE: Whining from rear end
I still have the same problem because the first time Ford told me they couldn't duplicate the problem. The second time I took it in, I asked to have the service manager ride with me so I could show him what was happening. He said he was too busy, so he sent a regular tech. The tech said I definitely had a problem, but the next day the service manager said, since he didn't hear the problem, he wasn't going to do anything. He also said since I put after market wheels (17" bullits) on the car, they would void any warranty on the rear end. Needless to say, I'm less than thrilled with Ford's service. As a matter of fact, Ford is so disappointing, I've considered trading the stang for the new challenger, when it comes out.
