Default It's official, UPDATED

Slowest '06 Mustang GT that has a CAI and 93 tune. I went to Byron today, first run got a bit of spin and a 60ft of 2.2 and a 1/4 time of 13.84@102.2, next run 2.1 60ft with a 13.88@101.9 then finally another 60ft of 2.1 and it's a 13.9@101.1....

All shifts the first 2 runs were at 6k, the last one I short shift into 3rd and 4th at 5800 in a desperate attempt at trying something different. Now mind you, a 60ft of 2.1 isn't half bad considering stock tires but WTF is with that low MPH and high ET? It was nice outside in the high 60's to maybe 70, low humidity....

I'm sooo pissed right now, this means that stock it might have been a 14 flat car at about 98 mph...... Normally there are other Mustang's at the track to compare to, but the only other one there was a '05 running mid 14's and I didn't get a chance to talk to him. Aside from him there were Cobra's there tearing up the track....

There, I've vented.... *(&#%#&*%^@*(@&^&^%#^&#%#&^#%^*#$#$*%^#*%^#(@^*$#) +(*)@&*_#&*(^!*), now I've vented some more..... ARRRGGGGHHHHHHH

Mistake: Shift higher not lower. I can only assume you have not dynoed the car? Shift at 6300 and let it fall back to 5800. Meaning: Don't hold it to it when you shift and don't let off all the way either. Your peak torque "should" be around 56-5800 RPM but your peak HP "should" should be around 63-6500 rpm. You want to be in the peak torque range when you get back on it, but don't want to go past the peak HP when you decide to shift. With the standard YOU have controll of launch spin. If it breaks, launch at a lower RPM next time (maybee 200 lower at a time) until you get spin under controll. Very good descriptive post that should "hopefully" let some good answers come your way. Good Luck next time out. That would be next weekend, right!

Yeah, 6300 was on my mind but it really doesn't pull that hard up there and if you ain't making power there don't shift there. I do need to get dyno'd but I have enough experience to know when to shift this thing I've been racing Mustang's for close to 26 years. It's possible the tune isn't right since it doesn't pull very much above 6k. Launch so far has been pretty good, 2.1 isn't that bad.

I should have brought the tuner with me and retuned it while at the track, the car has been doing a lot of sitting lately.

Yeah, just try shifting a little higher each time until you notice your ET's beginning to fall. The 2-3 shift is a critical part too (which you obviously know with your experience). Keep trying things until something works for you, you'll get it!

Since you didn't have it dynoed tuned then thats probaly where you problem is more than likely.
though every car is different try shifiting at 5800 rpms if you haven't already, maybe you want to launch around 2800 or 3000.
Keep it up, though 13.8 isnt that bad you should be able to cut to 13.4-13.6 with a proper tune.

If the 05 was stock, you are probably not far from where you should be. Drag Radials will make a huge difference, but remember, track conditions, the particular track, etc. makes a big difference. At my track (Bristol, TN) 05-06 gt's, stock, run 14.7 ish. So did I. I am Dynoed at 378 rwhp, and I run 13.3. The track is where it is at. I want to go to a sea level track and test. plus, how do you know your track is a perfect quarter mile?

+1 My best run in Bowling Green was a 13.4. The fastest time from the other 5 or 6 05/06 GT's was a 13.9 and the others never broke a 14. Track conditions and altitude come into play bigtime.
