Default Aftermarket Shifters

I just bought a brand new 06 GT stick and it is my first stick. I feel like it is kinda hard to shift, it feels like i have to push to much or something and it doesnt seem very smooth. Is it just me? Would an aftermarket shift be smoother? thanks

The stock shifter should be smooth - its probably got something to do with your experience. the hardest shift for you is probably 3rd and I suspect that you are trying too hard - all you have to do is move it out of 2nd, let the spring action move the shifter slightly to the right and push into 3rd. with respect to an aftermarket shifter, it will be more diffecult. i would recommend that you master the stock shifter then go aftermarket. lol

Brand new car, it hasn't broken in yet. It will be stiff for a while.

To ask a different question: which aftermarket short throw shifters do people like the best? I've heard good things about Steeda and Hurst.
