Emission trap

RE: Emission trap
You mean the one used in early production '05 air filter housings? Why on earth would you want one of those? Ford doesnt put 'em in anymore and it will cost you about 5 horsepower. It's useless.[:'(]

RE: Emission trap
You are right! But If I remove it the engine doesn't work very well. I thought about removing it but before I have to buy the Diablosport Predator or something like that. What do you think about the matter? Hi

RE: Emission trap
Not sure what you mean. If anything, the engine will work better without it. It restricts airflow and you gain by taking it out not lose. As I understand it the only thing it does is trap gases after the engine is shut off.

RE: Emission trap
Are you saying that if I remove it I wouldn't have any problem with the engine's check light? I know that without it I gain some hp but I read on some magazines that I need to tune the Oak processor to make the engine runs well.
Tell me if I can remove it without problems and without tuning the processor. Thank you

RE: Emission trap
if I pull out the Hydrocarbon trap will i have to have the car re-dynoed and adjust the current (which was done as the car was being dynoed) Predator tune ?
or can i just un plug negative battery, remove Hydrocarbon trap, reconnect battery which will cause the car to relearn the appropriate new settings ...or will this cause me to lose all of my dynojet adjusted lean/rich Air fuel settings.
From K&N Air Charger Instructions:
21. Vehicles that come equipped with
Hydrocarbon trap, use a pair of needle
nose pliers, to remove the Hydrocarbon
trap from the stock intake tube as shown.
NOTE: The Hydrocarbon trap coating
is very fragile; care should be taken
during removal as not to damage it.
22. Vehicles that come equipped with
Hydracarbon trap, place the Hydrocarbon
trap into the filter adapter as shown.
NOTE: This intake system is designed to
use the factory Hydrocarbon trap, Failure
to use the Hydrocarbon trap will result in
poor performance and possible engine
damage may result.

RE: Emission trap
I was looking at mine today to take it out. I have an '05 gt. I loosened the clamp on the hose at the air box end and took the hose off of the air box. I looked in the tube and did not see the pre-cat. in there. Is it on the intake end of the hose? or is it on the throttle body end of the hose? Or did they only use them in the early '05 mustangs?
