strange rattle at idle...from procharger?
I've been getting a metallic "rattly" sound at idle and it sounds like it's coming from the procharger or somewhere around it. it's very different than the "whine" under the hood I got after the install.
rattle gets worse if I let out the clutch real slow with low rpms, but then seems to disappear as the revs climb. sound also gets worse when idling while sitting still and I move the steering wheel slightly right or left.
In general I don't here the rattle when rev's get above 1200 or so. Engine sound OK when boost comes on, but I swear I notice a "metallic" tone to it that wasn't there before.
Any idea what might be going on? I got the Procharger installed at about 900 miles, and I'm only at 1100 miles right now.
Oh yeah, in case this info is relevant I've been back to the shop three times since the install 1) blower belt cut the power steering line 2) bolt holding pulley to harmonic balancer backed out, causing belt to come off and 3) bolt for tensioner pully worked itself out of place
thanks for the help

RE: strange rattle at idle...from procharger?
It could be normal noise for the Procharger mine does this every now and again but it may also be a bad tensioner or a bad idler pulley. I know it is hard to hear anything over that whine but try and track it down with a piece of tubing and listen while putting the tubing on each part. It is most likely the Gears in the Procharger itself.

armycook1981, thanks for the post and the video. I checked it out, and the sound under boost is very similar. I feel better about that.
What's still odd, though, is the sound at idle. What makes me suspect there is something else going on is the sound gets worse when I turn the wheel back and forth when idling and sitting still.
Does anyone know what the power steering pump sounds like when it's about to go? Reason I ask is 1) increased rattle at idle when car is still and wheel is turned and 2) on initial install the power steering line got cut by the blower belt and drained pretty much all the fluid before I got home from the shop.
I found the problem, patched the line and refilled the system, but could that incident have stressed the pump?.
