Default 07 GT (w/ options) prices up over $500 vs. 2006.

Just to clarify some early reports that the ’07 prices went down, that was wrong, at least on my GT version.

Checked 2007 prices on www.kbb.com and my car built 03-06 (GT prem., interior upgrade & red accent, active anti-theft, wheel locks, 18” wheels) is now $510 more. The 2006 price was $28,845, the 07 price is $29,355.

In addition to a general price increase and destination charges, the 3.55 rear gears that were standard in the 2006 are now an option; the 2007 comes with 3.31 granny gears.

Glad I bought an 06, glad I got 3:55, this only makes the 06 value better.
Factor in discounts, as the dealers won't be coming off MSRP "early" in the model year.
I love my baby more, than an 07. It's here the 07s ain't.

lol i don't know where you are buying from. The guy at my delearship was pretty fast to take off 1200 bucks without any negotiating. You are just trying to make yourself feel better at buying an 06 w/o heated seats.

I just ran through the pricing of my 07 as ordered. It is about $160.00 higher than a comparable '06 and I am paying $500.00 over invoice..That may not sound like much of a deal..but the 07 with my preferences...( IMHO can't stand the fake aluminum dash trim) with the sport interior and heated seats was the way to go for me.

The base MSRP for the 2007 is a $160 increase, but to get the 3.55 gears so it's equal to the 06 it's another
$100 so in a sense the base MSRP of the equal cars is $260.
However, some of the option prices has also increased so the OP is correct, the more you order on the 07, the
higher the difference is going to be with the 2006.

I'm still debating as to what to get.
The one thing I'm really waiting on is the official weight of the 2007 cars.
Since we've all been told they are using "thicker gauge steel" in certain panels and
"extra welds" in key areas to make the chassis a bit more rigid (they did so for the extra
weight and power of the GT500...but decided to do it on ALL 2007 Mustangs) I'm assuming their
is going to be a weight increase then as well.

If it's only 20-30 pounds, I'd get the 2007. But I've heard reports that the 2007 will weigh up
to 90 pounds more. If that's the case, I'll get a new 2006.
I've also heard the 2007 will weigh the same or slightly less (they would of needed to change something then
and remove weight in other areas to counter the extra steel). If by some MIRACLE the 2007's are a bit lighter
then it's a no brainer, I'd order a 2007 right away.

Either way though, either car is great.

I just ordered my '07 a few days ago for 100 under invoice. No plans or anything. When I looked at ordering an 06 from the same dealership about 6 months ago, the price was invoice plus 1%. So while the '07 price is a couple hundred higher, I'm actually paying less for an '07 thanks to waiting a little bit

The '07 GTs weigh 3356lbs according to the 2007 Mustang Key Features guide. So if anybody knows the stock weight of the '06 they can compare it to that.

I got mine ordered for $300 over dealer invoice ($1700 under MSRP) with minimal shopping around and negotiating.

Should be here by early July
