i havent had that good of luck. driving around the raod of tampa the tires from the vehicles in front of me have thrown some nasty stuff up and finally a piece of a washer finally did me in. thank god for progressive. they were out next day to look at it and schedule glass pro to come and replace it. the only money out of pocket i spent was to tip the guy.

The glass isn't cheaper, we're all driving our stangs faster! It's physics....the faster you go, the more velocity the rock impacts the glass with. So, if you want fewer chips..go slower. Oh yeah, if you drive briskly backwards they fix themselves!

I getting ready to replace mine, for those of you that used your insurance company, have you been able to get one put in thats similiar? That has the pony up near the rear view mirror? Or are those only available through the dealer?

Thanks

Ok, I just called a few shops earlier today, and they don't have a direct replacement "pony logo" one. I'll keep checking, and call my insurance on Monday.

got a chip / crack in mine as well, insurance covered it, i decided not to get a whole new windshield so they just "repaired it" (filled it in, stopped it from cracking)

Damn, I must be lucky. Have 12,800 miles on mine which includes a cross-country road trip. No chips yet. My wife's Ford Escape on the other hand seems to be a magnet for rocks!

No probs with glass. Car is about 6 months old. Speed chips in paint is a different story!

I have a few very small chips but the whole windshield is getting pitted so when you are looking right into the sun you can really see all of it. This is after 7500 miles.

If it chips, get the chip repaired quickly. Night/Day temperature changes will cause the chip to become a crack. Some insurance companies will waive the deductable if you're getting a "chip" repaired. Saves them from having to pay for a new windshield.

My dealer put on a plastic protector which covers the entire windshield. Check into those, may save you some money in the long run.
