Weight reduction...

Weight reduction...
Just thought I'd ask to see who has done some quick and easy
weight reduction to their 05/06 MGT and what you removed?
Also, has anybody relocated the battery to the trunk area for better weight dist.?
I know the rear seats in the MGT are pretty much useless, so has anybody
removed them? If so give us a run down how it went and what it looks like
underneath the seats.
Thanks

RE: Weight reduction...
sway delete/radiator support, kmember, lightweight wheels, alum driveshaft, spare out, almost-empty tank, tubular panhard, passenger seat out, rear seat out, go on a diet...and you should drop 200-230lbs for the track, and gain 15-20rwhp from reduced rotational mass

RE: Weight reduction...
found this over on the mach1 registry. it is specific to the mach but most the same could apply. obviously some are a little drastic.
Hawker Odyssey battery PC925LMJT (supposively cuts 25 lbs also can be relocated in the trunk) a "medium duty" is listed on the s197 spec sheet for cars with active anti theft and/or shaker 1000
rear seat delete kit 40~ lbs
spare tire and jack 40~ lbs
rear axle dampers 10 - 15 lbs
power seat(s) motors and related harness (mach's claim 57 lbs but s197 spec sheet indicates only 4lbs)
skipper 1000 is 60 lbs heavier than 500
lightweight flywheel/clutch
Aluminum or lighter DS
Tubular K-member and A arms
coil over systems
lightweight racing front seats,
light weight racing brakes
heavy bumper supports
get rid of catback use turndowns,
AC delete kits,
power steering delete kits,
lose stereo speakers,
floor mats,
carpet/insulation

RE: Weight reduction...
Thanks guys.
I should of been a bit more clear.
I was interested in people listing what they've removed and how much weight
it saved as a point of reference for anyone looking to remove so weight from
the car.
Going with a lower weight battery would be a good thing, and of course, as listed the
Shaker 1000 is like 50-60 pounds heavier than the 500.
I suppose to reduce any meaningful weight you'd have to remove a lot of
nice things that people might want to keep in their daily driver (like the A/C and/or
the power seat motors).
I suppose if you live in a climate that doesn't get above 85 degrees, losing the A/C wouldn't
be a big deal and if you are the SOLE driver of your car, losing the power seat motors once it's
in the position you like wouldn't be hard either.
As stated I doubt too many people use the rear seats in the 05/06 MGT so
tossing them in the interest of weight savings therefore improving performance and
gas mileage might be a good thing. I'd just wonder what it looked like UNDER the
seats. Wonder what they weigh though and how tough they are to remove?

RE: Weight reduction...
I took out the bottom part of the rear seats, the long part that is sat on and wieghed it. It only ways 13 pounds and the backs werent really even heavy enough for my scale to weigh. I have also have the shaker 1000 and the sub in the trunk weighed 36 pounds. Thats almost 50 pounds that can easily be taken out of my car. Anyone else have any quick weight reductions?

RE: Weight reduction...
The rear seat bottoms weigh 13 pounds each or both were 13 pounds?
I'd imagine most of those parts can be found somewhere, but don't think I'd
be interested in spending a bunch of money on parts I don't need just to save a
few pounds here and there.
