0-60 in 4.9?
Hi, I'm new here.
Recently I saw the new "Bold Moves" commercial featuring a Blue Mustang GT. The one where a Father and son are in an empty parking lot, and I'm most certain I saw "0-60 in 4.9" Am I seeing things or is this right?
Sorry if someone has alread posted this.

It's very possible.
Several car mags got 5.0-5.1 with the GT and sometimes those
are with models that don't have too many miles on them.
On a good track with a perfect launch, I'd say 4.9 seconds is
fully possible.
I think the other key is the 2006's option of the 18" wheels.
Though heavier, which will affect speeds from a roll, the tires are
grippier and allow for a better launch.

when my bro inlaw was buying his GT all the ford workers were laughing when he asked if it was true... i think 5.2 is the best it will see with street tires fully stock in a 5 speed without readlining the *** out of it.

i do it in about 4.3 on the street and a wee hair faster on the track. im pretty modded though. seriously, blink your eyes twice really fast...thats MORE than the difference between 4.9 and 5.1 seconds...

+1 on the 18's. I find it difficult to break traction even with TCS off and a Saleen SC!

Huh, I didn't know there was wheel hop issues with the MGT with 17" wheels/tires.
Regardless, I don't think it's possible to get 4.6-4.8 second 0-60 with the
stock 17" tires, they spin too easily. I think it would be tough to duplicate
the 4.9 second run all that often on the stickier 18" wheels either.
I bet they had to do numerous runs just to get that 4.9 second time ONCE!
A STI and EVO gets to 60 in 4.5-4.7 seconds and that's with a tremendous AWD
launch, I can't see ANY 05/06 MGT equaling those times to 60 mph.
As for the claim in the Ford commercial. Well, unless they or another certified
company (magazine or such) did it, they couldn't claim it.
