Default Which Borlas?

I really hope I'm not duplicating someone elses question, but I've looked and looked and haven't found an answer yet.

Most of the posts regarding members who have the Borlas either say they have the Stingers or they don't specify which they have. I'm ordering my exhaust this week and I'm 80% sure I'm going with the Stingers, but just wanted to know what the difference was soundwise between the Stingers and the "oval" Borlas. How much louder are the oval ones over the stock exhaust? How much louder are the Stingers than the ovals?

Thank you in advance for you help!

As far as deepness the stingers are a lot deeper but they aren't a ton louder. But they are def a step in the right direction.

Call Borla and ask them!

Most of us are running the "stingers". I don't know of anyone that has the ovals.

I'm also running the Borla Stingers I have the cat-back setup, so I will have a complete exhaust once I get my L/T headers.

Are you planning on going with the axle-back or the cat-back setup, out of curiousity?

Am I correct in assuming a Cat-back is just axle-backs plus piping that runs to the H-pipe? If so what is the advantage? The stock piping looks pretty good with the exception of a crimp on the right side piping just foward of the muffler.

Yes, you're correct that the catbacks replace the stock plumbing up to the H pipe. I didn't realize there was about a half inch crimp a few inches long going over the axle until they were off. That's not why I went with them though. I got the catbacks CHEAPER than anyone else had their axlebacks priced at. I lucked out doing a google search every day in early May until just when I was ready to order I tried one last time. JCWhitney of all places had them on clearance for $419! I wasn't a member here at the time but wished I could have told everyone. Just goes to show you the mark up on this stuff if they could afford to let them go at that price and still be making money.

I got the Ford racing stingers. Identical to the Borlas, cause they are made by Borla for Ford except the muffler says Ford Racing on it instead. I got them from the John Bleakley Ford site for only $330! They were the cheapest when I ordered them.

Thanks for all the info. I couldn't get anyone on the phone at Borla so I sent them an email and I'm still waiting for a response.

I'm pretty sure I'm just going to go with the axle-back. From what I've read in the forums I wouldn't be able to gain much from the cat-back system since I'm not planning on header and cat modification. (It's just too much of a pain in CA!!!) So for me, it's mostly a sound thing. I'm leaning toward the Stingers but just wanted to double check with everyone to see what they thought of the other Borlas. I'm sure I'll end up with the Stingers in the end, but just got worried at the last second about drone - but then again who really cares about that as long as it sounds good, right?

IMHO, the drone is only problematic if you have either either no cats or high-flow cats. In those circumstances, it is pretty loud. But on a car with the stock catted H-pipe it's no big deal.
