Here ya go, you obviously need this more than me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manual_transmission

If you read it you can find this quote

"Manual transmissions are lubricated with gear oil, which must be changed periodically in some cars, although not as frequently as the automatic transmission fluid in a vehicle so equipped. (Some manufacturers specify that changing the gear oil is never necessary except after transmission work or to rectify a leak.)"

I bolded the important parts since you dont seem to understand very well.
exactly..."THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID IN A VEHICLE SO EQUIPPED (MINE!!!)" My car takes ATF automatic TRANSMISSION FLUID which doesnt need to be changed as requently...manuals use automatic transmission fluid.

and i bolded a few words for you too
.. "Automatic transmission fluid in a vehicle so equipped" (That means a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission) You dont fill a manual car with automatic transmission fluid.

i havent really checked where to put it in yet but when I drained it it looked/smelled like ATF and it damn sure wasnt gear oil...after some research i found out that it does infact take ATF...im going to put it in the hole on the passenger side of the tranny.

Well I dunno where you did your research but if youre right then that is really, really wierd. Arguing with you got me more interested to see if they really started putting auto tranny fluid in manuals so I called some people up and opened some car books and did some research on the internet and everything I read said manuals take gear oil not tranny fluid. They didnt mention anything about the tranny fluid messing up a manual though... just alot about gear oil and different thicknesses. So I dunno if my books are just really old or somethin funky is goin on with your car. It would really suck to put that fluid in your transmission though and have it screw it up.. just to be safe Id call a shop or the dealership and ask them? Its up to you, in the end its your car Im just saying better to be safe than have to replace a tranny.

Many manual transmissions now use Automatic Transmission Fluid instead of the old gear oil. My 2000 C5 Corvette that I just sold is a good example. It used ATF in the manual six-speed. I would be quite surprised if the Mustang owner's manual didn't say what the proper fluid is, but since I don't have my Mustang yet, I can't check myself. So in short, yes, some manual transmissions do use ATF fluid, and some use gear oil. Hope that clears it up for you guys.

O well then sorry, I was wrong, I was under the impression that manuals still used gear oil. I have honestly never heard of manuals taking ATF... then again the last manual I had was an 88 Ford Ranger heh... my bad [8D] Replace your fluids my friend!
