2006 FORD RACING DRAG PACK -- PROBLEM!!!! SUDDEN CATASTROPHIC REAR END FAILURE
Watch out, folks! With just 250 miles of normal driving after having a Ford dealer install Ford Racing Part #M-2006-FR2A, the Drag Pack for 2006 Mustang GT w/ auto transmission, THE REAR END BLEW APART AT 65 MPH WITHOUT WARNING ON THE HIGHWAY!!!
The Drag Pack costs $1,299. A Ford dealer charged another $1,340 to install it, and now it has turned a brand new $30,000 Mustang GT into a piece of garbage. Don't expect any help ffrom the Ford Racing Techline...they were rude on the phone and they don't want to hear about any problems. The Dealer's Parts Dept. and their Service Dept. all of a sudden don't know me anymore. Luckily, the guy who sold me the car remembers me so maybe I'll get some help. If you don't like sitting on the side of an expressway for three hours with your brand new Mustang just inches away from dozens of speeding 18-wheelers, stay away from Ford Racing Parts.[:@]

I agree. It sounds like a bad install. That is why I would not let the dealer install gears. I would have used a professional speed shop. (Using hindsight of course). How bad is the damage?

+1. ford racing gears are probably the best out there for the money. the install is at fault IMO; is it possible the alighnment of the gears was off, or the backlash/preload was not checked prior to reinstalling the axle girdle?

FRPP gears =Good shyt. I'm betting a faulty install, providing you were breaking them in properly. Honestly they should have you covered for the money you payed and the fact that they were ford parts. But that depends on your dealer(prefably a former SVT dealer). While I'm not intrested in any of there "PAKS" some of their individual parts are cool.

Yes, it is currently available to be hauled away for the reasonable fee of only $30,000. An Acura sure is starting to look good to me right about now.

Well since you have deemed it garbage I will be a nice guy and offer to haul it away for you. Just leave the title and keys under the seat.

IMO no brand new 2006 vehicle should be spending much time in the shop and should definitely NEVER need to be hauled on a flatbed. Once they break down on the road, especially with your lady in the car being put at risk, they have to go. Case closed.
