Kenne Bell BOOST-A-SPARK
Anyone had any experience with the Kenne Bell BOOST-A-SPARK? I just ordered a KB blower and got the boost-a-spark to avoid having to close up the plug gaps. Any good or bad experiences?
Better solution:
Buy the GMS Coil-Over Packs. They are 60,000 volts and will let you run .045 gap.
They add 25 HP with a blower setup.
This has been proven by dyno tests from several people.
I installed them and they rock! They are not cheap though.

I have been told the BAS does the exact same job as the coil-overs, so good buy IMO. Not really needed unless you are pushing over 500 rwhp IMO. - those doing 500+ are the only ones I have heard of with losing spark issues.
Oh and in case your wondering, the BAS increases the spark to the plugs 25%. Doesn't matter what gap - it is a flat 25% increase. It is not adjustable or varied. It is not meant as an alternative to gapping plugs. It is meant to do eaxactly what it's name says - INCREASE SPARK. Again, not a neccessary mod unless you are having spark issues which I highly doubt in your case.

No problems with mine, just one range cooler. Didn't even re-gap.

Get a set of 1 heat range colder, leave them at factory gap .045 and your GTG!
Again they know what they are talking about.

There are quite a few posts from people with FI that have had to reduce plug gaps to prevent high boost misses at the boost levels I am planning to run. The BAS looks to be an inexpensive and easy to install way to make SURE this is not a problem. KB's tech support agrees. I was just asking if anyone who HAS USED ONE could give any comments.

The BAS IS adjustable, only activates under boost, is NOT a 25% increase, and CAN increase spark power to prevent a spark from being blown out under boost. Where did you get this info?

I have HTO plugs gapped at .032 and was losing spark at 5800 rpms on 14 psi. The granetelli coils seemed a solution but seemed pricey. I went with the BAS and it worked just fine. I had it set for a 25% boost and I had no spark issues through 6800 rpm. I am finishing up a new motor now with 18-20 psi and plan on setting the boost at 35-40% for a 7400 rpm spin. Gapping the HTO plugs .032-.035 works well enough up to about 530-540 hp at under 13 psi. If you are going to be in those levels, I don't think you will need the BAS. if you exceed them, you probably will.
Hope this helps.
