Default Retune Problem

Lately I've been having this problem eversince i put my intake and tune. As im driving my car it goes into a "Fail Safe Mode". I shut the car off and turn it back on and its ok but does anyone knoe why this is happening. I have the JLT w/ SCT Evolution Tune 93. I've tried posting this question in the Evolution Performance setion but they haven't responded. Any help would help. Thank You

I have the same set-up with an automatic. I use the 93 octane tune, but run 94 octane gasoline. I have had no problems. Perhaps you got some bad gasoline?

I'd check to see if you can pull any codes off the car when it is in the fail safe mode, as this may shed some light..
fred says he usually pretty busy, and emails/ posts are on the end of his priority list I'm guessing..
I've jsut called any time I've had a question, and I always get quick responce...
his number is:610 485-3596

Just a heads up.. some of the 2005 Mustangs have been going to the dealer with throttle control problems....I was having the same problem of failsafe mode but i keep getting check engine faults as well... Check ur computer... scan it... See what pops up... I ende dup purchasing a new TPS ( throttle position sensor) which they are now making a new one since 2005 as a replacement... however the dealer will still not cover it cause it is not a recall as of yet...

You said you put an intake on.

Double check the connector for the MAF... it MUST be seated ALL the way down. It will get bad readings if the connector isn't completely seated which in turn will cause other codes to pop and then toss the engine into FailSafe mode.

just so you know, the Airbag light only lights up when you have around 10-50lbs on the seat. It is always off if the seat is empty (the light just doesnt say so) but with a light load the seat know a smaller passenger is in the seat, and warns you that it is keeping the airbag off for safety.. (a case of beer is also considered a small passennger to the airbag).. so chances are that isn't actually broken in your car..

Also several cars have had a tps issue as mentioned earlier.. mine as well, but it did not trip the fail-safe mode for me.. just an engine code..

and +1 to what Prof said about the MAF sensor.. also make certain it is pointing the right direction( there is a flow arrow on the sensor)

good luck-
