Default Cutting weight

Hey I was wondering if you guys have found ways to cut weight off the S197s beside what Ive already done. Here's what Ive stripped from my 06.
Sway Bar/cuts 30lbs
Took out the radiator support & installed custom tubular radiator mount/Cuts 26lbs
Took out hood liner/Not sure what it weighed
Emptied windsheild container/Not sure what it weighed
Those things alone cut about 60-70lbs off the nose of the car!
I also removed the tire, jack & trunk liner/Didnt weigh that stuff either
I have the rear seat delete kit to install as well that will cut 40lbs.

I figure Ive cut maybe 150lbs off the car(Once rear seat delete is done) without it looking like a race car.Is there any other hidden weight that Ive not discovered??I know about the carbon fiber driveline(1000.00!!!),wheels,aluminum fly wheel & stuff. But I would like to know if there is any other hidden weight in these cars.?. THANKS!

I'm no pro at this, but the only other thing i could thing of is carbon fiber parts. example: CF hood, etc.

From what ive seen, you done alot to ur car to reduce weight.

Thanks for the reply!Yeah I thought I might be at the end of the rope without removing the passenger seat(Boy would the wifey be pist if I took her seat out!LOL!) & other creature comforts but thought I would ask you guys to make sure.I thought about a CF hood but they are VERY expensive from what I have seen for just a 15lb weight loss! And like I said the CF drive shafts are 1000.00!!Thats more $$$$ than what I can spend right now!LOL!You wouldnt happen to know of a CF hood supplier that has decent prices????That 15lbs combined with what Ive already trimmed out of the nose of the car would be great!

Has anyone heard about a car battery that is 1/2 the size of a regular car battery but still has the cranking amps & is 1/2 the weight? This would be cool!I believe if we research our cars hard enough we can pull 100lbs out the nose of these Ponies! What a differance on the launch!!OH YEAH BABY!!!

Yes on the battery, Summit Racing sells them. For an extra benefit, relocate the battery to the trunk for better distribution of weight.

Here are some other tips:

1. Buy lightweight wheels and tires. Reducing rotating weight is MUCH better than reducing non-rotating weight.

2. Lightweight flywheel, clutch housing, and driveshaft.

Its going to be hard to cut weight w/ out cutting ur wallet...horsepower might be a cheaper way to make ur car go faster. Plus i think you did a execllent job on saving weight on ur car.

You could start adding ligher parts, like exhuast/headers, etc. so you gain hp and loss weight.

i am the diet man!!!
as of last time weighed 3300# w/o driver and thats an auto car.
i've had my back seat out and it weighs about 20lbs max! so i left it in for now but it will come out next week before i test prior to the nmra race in NJ. the stock battery only weighs 30lbs. so replacing it with a lightweight unit will only net you 10lbs. i did relocate mine to the rear but by the time you add the longer cables its probably a wash. i did it since i plan on running a bigger optima red top which is about 45-50lbs and at that point it's worth relocating. i have an aluminum driveshaft (-40lbs!) bogarts and m/ts's(-100lbs) rad support/swaybar delete, aje kmember and a-arms with strange struts and granatelli coilover conversion. (-100lbs more)
i have since ditched the stock front seats and use a butler built race seat(driver side only) and the exhaust is coming off in favor of two dynomax bullets dumped off after the crossmember. the seats weigh: driver 70lbs, pass 50lbs....exhaust should be another 75-100lbs since i still run the stock mufflers, axle pipes and h-pipe with no cats(i have hooker l/t's attached to the cut factory hpipe).
my goal for weight is 3100# w/o driver. that would equal an approx. 450lbs loss in weight compared to factory delivered curb weight. hell i'll even take out the radio, air bags and bumper crash bars to get more if need be. i think the crash bars are only 15-20lbs each as are the airbags. the radio is 10 lbs. so i hear.
any other idreas guys????????
i smell 11.99 n/a this fall

Are you sure that weight is correct for the sway bar? I don't believe it weighs 30 pounds.

But since you're wrecking your suspension and interior, you might as well yank the radio, A/C, and power steering.

the sway bar itself weighs maybe 10lbs. it's the rad support that weighs the other 25-30lbs. and i tried bypassing the power steering pump but it was a handfull to drive since these cars are setup with a weird steering geometery. i haven't wrecked anything "yet" it all bolts back in within minutes. and no i still want a/c. it's not worth that much work to lose 65 lbs total for the system.

+1

No need for creature comforts if you are going to strip all that other stuff. Might as well get some lexan too.
