Default MT ET Slicks

I have a buddy with a Mach 1 that uses these tires. They are on a 15x 10.5 rim.

He thinks with these I would bog too much and it would hurt my times. All I have done is a performance tune.

I am just asking b/c I have a buddy with a cammaro that has LT's that I am racing for chicken. lol
I just want to be able to at least have a chance.

Will it bog or am I good?

Another thing, would it help to not do a burnout and run higher pressure in the tires?

Tire height would be a huge factor in this. But regardless, these wheels will probably not clear your brakes without a little griding on the calipers, this is only if they are XP's. Also, assuming they are 5.5" backspacing they will stick out about 2" and it will look like a roller skate.

lol, I don't care what it looks like, it's for drag racing.

I just want to know if it will bog.

I will have to check on the brake problem

Those tires are shorter than your stock tires so as long as you launch high enough you shouldn't bog. If the wheels have anything over 5.5" of backspacing they probably will not fit. The brakes are your biggest problem because if they aren't XP's they will not fit without a very thick spacer.

As a side note, it isn't legal for you to run these wheels on the track regardless if they fit or not, because you don't have long wheel studs.

I use the MT Slicks 28X10.5-15 on bogart wheels and fitment was no issue. All I had to do was use the BMR rear swaybar relocation bracket.

You honestly aren't pushing nowhere near enough HP to require these tires. It is a waste for you. Get the MT ET Streets DR's.

I am not buying these.. I am simply borrowing them for 2 or 3 passes down the track. I was just wondering if I will have any issues and if my car would handle them without bogging.

Also, what should I launch at and are our rear-ends pretty strong? I don't want to break anything! lol

Thanks guys!

BTW- they are XP's...... whatever that means

You will probably have to grind a little on your calipers and you need a swaybar relocation kit from BMR or CHE.

I tried to give you a quick answer but let me be specific so you don't end up having a bad day...lol

Although drag radials work great and are like slicks, they are not slicks. When you launch on DR's even with GREAT hook-up, they give slightly and although it may not even be felt by the driver at all, they always give a little before engaging. This give, not matter how slight, cuts the torque considerably on your rear end.

True slicks when heated work like superglue. The torque on the rear end is considerably more as their is no give. Breaking your posi is almost a given and severe damage to your rear end on your stock set-up is probabal if you even halfway know what you are doing and launch hard.

From your own post, you basicaly have a stock rear end. Even with some minor bolt ons (LCA's 3rd link, panhard par, etc) launching with true slicks is not adviseable. I had just about every suspension mod you can think of and I stayed on drag radials running a lot more HP than you have.

I only switched to slicks when I had to and in the process, also added a detroit locker differential, c-clip elliminators, and moser axels with 9" housing ends.

I would highly recommend sticking to a DR.

PS - the XP are weld wheels, and you most certainly have to do some modification to your claipers and use spacers for them to work. The only rim that is bolt and go for our cars is the bogart welded RT's.

EDIT - and 26" tire fit just fine anbd is what you want to run in a DR. Specifically a 26x11.5-17. With slicks, you want to run a 28" tire and it wil fit but you have to have the power to back it up.
