takin off mufflers?
Actually I ran the car for like 10 mins just so I could hear what our car sounded like raw. It doesnt sound horrible but its not ideal IMO. Kinda sounded like an older carbuerated engine.. definately louder, really bubbley and a tad of rasp to it. If you want your car to be louder than stock then yeah you could do this, but you could always just do a turn down if you had a few pieces of steel laying around, that would be louder than anything else you could make. The difference between raw and with SLP LM's is there is actually a pipe on the end for it to resonate though lol.. makes it sound totally different. LM's are not quite as loud as raw but close, with a deeper less raspy tone to it.
Coming from a guy who drove his 05 without mufflers for several months.... I think it sounds awesome along with the rest of the car club here at A&M. Lol go for it.... however you will have to make sure that you tie down the pipes otherwise it will rattle like a mother!

get a cutout maybe? unless your doing it for racing reasons, there's no need, those cars sound good with stock mufflers anyways, imo

Actually, I dyno my car with and without mufflers, just long tube headers, and was very surprised to find that without the backpressure from the mufflers, I lost about 20 hp. I find it odd that the car lost hp with a less restrictive exhaust but appearently this motor likes backpressure.

What is happening is that when you mess with the exhaust system, you can cause acoustic nodes of backpressure to form and this is what drops your horsepower.
When the exhaust system is tuned right, it actually scavenges the exhaust and this results in higher HP numbers.
Thx,
Mike
