Default 106 Octane

My buddy just bought a 2005 gt with 18,000 miles, bone stock. We are gonna go out to moroso 2marow and he was wondering if it would be safe to run race gas. Also he has headers and borla full exhaust on the way and was planning on buying a tuner, what would be the best tuner for his car. Thanks

if his car is not tuned for higher octane. . . he may actually foul a plug with race gas . . .

87 is all he needs to run, otherwise it won't help

www.brenspeed.com for the tuner. . . he can actually tune it for the mods you will/currently have. . .

Do NOT run any octane higher then 87 UNLESS you have a tune that specifically requires a higher octane. If you use higher octane then needed you can, and most likely will, foul the plugs and cause deposits on the valves…

My car has never had anything except 93, I even asked the dealership to fill it with 93 when they filled it up on delivery and they showed me a reciept saying premium on it. I did it simply because I knew it was going to be tuned for 93 eventually and didnt want to have to deal with having to drain it to switch up. So for the first month before I got my CAI it ran 93 on a stock tune, and running a few octanes up wont hurt your car but 106 is fairly high and I wouldnt doubt that it could have some adverse side effects.

Thanks guys that what I told him but I wasnt 100%, he kept insisting he could cause some dude he talked to at a gas station said he owned a performance shop and told him it would be fine. This guy had a pretty bad 05 full bolt-on's and spray. Said he went mid 11's on street tune.

It will probably go faster on 87. The higher the octane the slower the gas burns and why you can advance the timing with a performance tune.
Let us know how he does.
