Drag Radial - tire size and recommendation

Drag Radial - tire size and recommendation
Looking at getting a set of drag radials. My car is not a daily driver so I am looking for something I can run at both the track and when driving around town.
Was thinking about BFG drag radial or ET streets, anyone have any opinions??? Also, more importantly what size tires are you running ? I have 2006 GT with the stock 17 inch wheels. I tried searching the forum but really didnt find any tire size recommendations for the 17inch rims.
THanks

RE: Drag Radial - tire size and recommendation
If you want to drive around town on them, make sure they are at least as tall as your stock tires or it will look really stupid with tires that are 26" in the back and 27" in the front. The M&H 275/50-17s are the only 17" drag radial I know of that are as tall as or taller than the stock tires. They are 28" tall and really fill up the wheel wells nicely.

RE: Drag Radial - tire size and recommendation
the et streets seem to be the popular choice at my track. 275/45/17 i believe. Summit has em. they have some cheapo 17 rims too. I dont know what experience you have with them, but you really dont want to drive all over with them. The soft compound means they will go bald fast. Also, they really arent great for anything other than going in a straight line. They are not a true "radial" tire.
I ran Mcreary's on my 5 liter, and it was a lil goosey on the freeway.

RE: Drag Radial - tire size and recommendation
There is only one size of the MT ET Street drag radials in 17" It's a 275/40/17 if I remember correctly. If you really want to hook the go for the ET Streets Drag bias ply they have a 17" also, but both of these are shorter than your stock tires so it will give you more gear mutiplication. Which can be a good thing.
