I know how you feel. I am on my third windshield and have two chips in it. I think for must have gotten the glass from some third rate company or something. Hell I had to replace my first 'shield during the first week I had the car. Can't wait for the aftermarket windshields.

cheap factory windshields? probably not, the replacement ones you get put in at a "chain glass repair shop" are most likely going to come from china unless you go to a local glass shop that uses american companies as their suppliers. even then i would be scared to have it replaced. all the ripping and tearing and cutting that has to happen to get the windshield out! if its just a chip, i think you should just live with it--and that 'chip repair' that some ppl offer is a rip off and bandaid solution. this coming from someone that was in the business for 4 years. I will say that if you do get the windshield replaced, stand there and watch it get replaced so you can have the installers pay for any damage that they WILL cause to your car. it will happen, and out of the installations and replacements i did or watched there was always some little nick or ding of that sort that happened

Thanks for the replies! I found a local shop to do a repair on the chip.

Marlinmon07, do you think it is a waste to get the chip fixed? A buddy showed me a spot on his windshield that was repaired and it was hardly noticeable. I appreciate your thoughts

When I had my windshield repaired it cost of a factory replacement windshield with the stang tint bar up top was 450-475 or something in that area. But I thankfully didn't need replacement since I had a "bullseye" impact about the size of a nickel. The damage was in the tint bar area so it was tricky to repair but they fixed it and you can hardly tell it was there.

When I called state farm to get my windshield replaced they wanted to know if the crack was in my field of vision and if it was bigger than a credit card. So if it doesn't fall under one of those two you might have trouble getting insurance to cover it.

Personally I think It's worth it to replace the windshield just for a chip, you'll get another.
