As far as the 350Z vs. Mustang GT goes, I bought an 06 GT and I won!

I bought one of the original 240Zs new in 1972. It was a great sports car at a great price. I also bought a Mustang GT new in 1986. It was a great muscle car at a great price.

I considered buying a 350Z when they came out, but the price seemed a bit high. I could not bring myself to spend over $30,000 on the car, and I don't like the styling.

When I saw pictures of the 05 Mustang, I knew that Ford had done the right thing as far as stying goes. I was also glad that I had not bought a 350Z.

I test drove an 05 V6 Mustang automatic and loved it, except that I really wanted the V8 and a manual tranny, so I found a dealer that had one and bought it.

When I picked up my 06 GT from the dealer last December, I knew that I had definitely won.

I now have a terrific looking, powerful, comfortable, great handling car that is a joy to drive to work every day and got it at a bargain price ($24,000).

The 350Z appears to be a great sports/gt car. The Mustang GT is a great muscle car. At my current income level, the 350Z is definitely not worth $7000 to $8000 more.

I like the 350Z but have never lost to one, stock or with the CAI and tune, at the track a few were in the mid 13's but I've yet to see any run faster. I'm sure there are some though. As for the guys who have them and want to race in the twisties, I think for the average driver that would be a drivers race. I'm not a road racer so I'll leave that debate to those who are. I've read a few "Z" forums and they love to bash on the Mustang, our car seems to be a favorite among many forums to bash.

To the two previous posts, you've made my day! What's Agleon smoking? Minor mods??!!! What, maybe putting the engine in a wheelbarrow? Makes me want to blasphemy......but not on Sunday(sorry God). On the subject, I've raced, straight up, given head starts to and from a roll, and I have never, ever had a Z or G35 come close. I don't even bother racing them, just like I don't bother with most JapCrap......there's even been so much hype about the new Lexus IS350....no match(he even got the jump-forgot they're automatics)..these cars just lack torque....as for the handling aspect...okay on a smooth track stock for stock.....but in the real world? It's all about how brave(and stupid) you can be.....besides losing around a corner never bothered me....but in a straight line?

You can't compare the Stang to the 350Z...two different cars, built for different reasons, sold to different market segments...

I disagree.. I believe the Stang is directly in line with the 350Z. Both are sports cars, both handle about the same, both are close in a drag race (all be it that the mustang wins), both have their own identities but look agressive. I bet if they stopped making the mustang you would see an increase in 350z sales, and visa-versa..
