Well i currently have my car set to 91 oct Race tune, and my car accidently got filled up wih 89 oct. Now my 89 oct tune is erased, and im stuck. Will an octane booster help out? Ifso which brand?

Will this hurt my engine in the long run?

better get the octane booster for that tank and run it low and then refill with 93 once, then back to 91,

just my recommendation

Octane booster does absolutely nothing. Truth is I doubt you have that much timing in your car to cause detonation. If you do start hearing it ping (will sound like little rocks hitting your windshield) than simply go to any race shop around you (yes - even an import shop) and they'll 99% have some VP110 or VP109 laying around and add a few gallons to your tank and instant 'REAL' octane boost. Even some gas stations sell VP110 in 5 gallon mini drums. You can also try a motorcyle/ATV dealer. They are also likely to have some race gas.

I honestly think you'll be fine for the tank though.

but after you do that, go back to 87. the 89 will break your seals down, over long periods of time. and i mean long. but long comes quick the more miles you put on it. pretty soon long is long gone, and you replaced **** you should never have had to replace. run 87 till you get a tune, then run 91 or 93. burns cleaner, more power, and its just better fuel for your engine. not to try and stick to fords doctrine to much, but my old man and i wondered why they recommend bp. started callin around, and come to find out, BP 93 oct has been the cleanest, least cut gas we've found. not as many additives at the other gas. and the percentage of people complaining about "bad gas" wasnt as high. but to be fair, how do you really know if it was bad gas or just not taking car of the car. so dont count that, but do some research for yourself. they're pretty good.

If you hear knocking then you have a problem. I would just go easy on it until you run that tank out. Can you get 93? When you get to a 1/2 tank you can refill with 93 and problem solved.

There is another way to do it as well. Add a gallon of PURE toluene to your gas. Toluene is a part of gasoline anyway so it won't hurt.

One gallon of Toluene will add 15 octane points or 1.5 octane numbers to a full tank (16) gallons of gasoline (make your tankful 90.5). Toluene has an (R+M)/2 octane number of 114 so it is pretty potent stuff.

I replied recently to a post where I posted MSDS information for various gasolines and Toluene is a certain % of gasoline. I am blending it with 93 to get 94.5 for my Saleen SC needs! Here is that post.

BTW, everyone swears by BP Amoco Ultimate. Take a sniff of it and a sniff of pure toluene and tell me the difference! Toluene smells pretty close to what Amoco Ultimate smells like and what Amoco used to sell in the early 70s as "white gas."

Hope this helps.

It probably says it will add so many octane points, and that really ain't much! 10 octane points = 1 octane number and it is the octane number they post on the pump!

you dont have to use 93 oct. 91 is fine. i had never seen 93 at a gas station untill i moved down to kentucky. no more 91, just 87/93. kinda nice. definately check your spark plugs, and if you dont care too much anyway, replace them with some colder spark. and yeah, BP/Amoco 93 is the best dang gas in the world. of course thats a "scientific fact", says i. but really more opinion of the masses. ah... white gas. thats a back in the day term right there. my old man used to say how much better it was, and you didnt even need the added compression to run high oct, that gas was good enough. wish i was alive and racing, "back then"
