Default Bilstein Shocks

Today i drove over a patch of rough road in my new 06 GT. It's off 287 heading East by the Garden State PW exit if anyone knows where i'm talking about. I was going about 75-80 and for the life of me I couldn't stop my head from bouncing around the car for like 2 minutes straight... I honestly thought i was going to be sick. The ride is perfectly fine around town, and most normal paved roads.

- I understand the Bilstein shocks are due to arrive this month, has anyone installed a set on their car yet ? If so how is the ride?
- Is there a break-in period for the suspension for this car, would be the first time i've heard of one if there is.
- Are there any shocks out there that may help soften things up a bit, without loosing the firmness around the corners?

Basically i'ld like my car to ride like my old Vette. Smooth when you need it to be, but you know when u've hit a bump.

Any Ideas ?
