Default acceleration

ok -

i used to own a 2003 acura rsx-s that i supercharged and i could spin the wheels on that car all day long and i had 265whp, or about 300hp to the flywheel...similar to this car.

unfortunately, this car just won't spin the tires. unless i rev to over 4k in 1st gear, and pop the clutch (in which case they'll spin for a little bit), i can't spin the tires. not that i want to...i don't drive like that. but like amercan muscle 4.6gt i think something might be wrong with my car.

if i'm in 1st, or 2nd, and at say 3000 rpm, and i floor it...the car while accelerate fairly quickly but i will not spin the tires. and this is with TCS off and stock tires!! the only time i can spin the tires is by either dumping the clutch at high rpms in 1st gear, or flooring it during a tight corner, and even then it's only a chirp. this is just ridiculous! no matter what, the car just bogs and doesn't come alive until 4-5k rpm. maybe i'm wrong, but i think if i'm at 1000 rpm in 1st gear, and floor it, the tires should at least chirp or break loose at some time. with stock tires and tcs off...they should...right?

here's an experiment for those who do NOT have a tune:

start moving slowly in 1st gear, say at 5mph, and then floor it and take it up to redline. do your tires break loose at any time? mine don't. not even a chirp. i think something is wrong...what do you guys think?

maybe i'll try that recal and see what happens...

tried the recal, no effect.

i turned the car on, waited 1 min for the seatbelt to go off, floored it over 3 sec, then slowly unfloored it, turned car off, then repeated. no luck. am i doing something wrong?

and why the hell can't i roast my tires?! with TCS off and stock tires, i should be able to burn them good...right???

My 05 doesnt seem all that fast but it will smoke the tires off the rims. I get amazed at how fast everybody on this forum thinks these cars are. Ive done all the same mods everybody else has including 4.10's. I quess its all what you are used too. These cars make decent power at some points but not throughout the whole rpm range.

Funny you should post this, I just posted on another thread, but this is really where it belongs...

I ran it out for the 1st time today, and I agree that the lag is noticable when you punch into it midway thru 1st. But when I hit 2nd, I roasted the back tires. Not chirped, roasted. And I felt the back of the car drop down hard and dig in. I was impressed. It felt good. This was with the TCS on BTW.

Yes, I can find things to complain about, but the more I drive this car, the more I'm impressed.

saw that.

my point is, i CANNOT roast the tires unless i pop the clutch with the rpms high in 1st. that's IT. no other way for me to spin the tires, even if i floor it at 1rpm and take it all the way to redline in 1st.

WTF? 320tq and i can't spin my tires? unbelievable.

and i dont care about speed right now, as spinning tires is bad for speed, but i just want to spin tires if i'm in the mood. why is it so hard to do this?!

I had no problem smoke em stock. I could def spin in second and even get a lil chirp in third, and I'm no hotshoe driver. Now if your talking about a brakestand then thats a little harder but possible. I have seen it done!!It looks like you've already tried everything I would have thought of so I really don't have any tips for you, sorry!!!

It may be that your stang has better suspension and/or tires than the Acura, and therefore it's planting and taking off rather than just sitting there spinning tires.

If you think about it, you don't want to spin tires unless you are showing off. Tire spin is wasted power.

You do have a manual right? You have the TCS off? You could try resetting the computer, I don't know the procedure offhand, but it's something like key in turned a notch (engine not running) and depress the gas pedal to the floor and then let it out after 10 seconds. Anyone?

Just out of curiousity.. what kind of wheels/tires do you have? Do you have the Perrelli's or the BFG's? Might make a difference.
