the horsepower rating refers to bhp - meaning at the flywheel

auto/manual - no difference

the autos will not go into overdrive under wot - possibly why you ran away from him

Man are we spoiled!! The clutch on that thing was at least 10x stiffer than the S197s. I guess thats the difference between a cable and hydraulic clutch. Otherwise it felt about the same as my car did when I had 3.55s but thats not a real fair assesment seeing as how I was still sorting out the clutch. I'm sure with some good road I could have reall laid into it. The seating is a bit more akward but something I guess I could get used too. The car was stock save for exhaust(not sure what all it had) But I can at least say I've driven more than one stang now.
The mach 1's shaker hood is sweet though.

+1 on the Shaker.... My best friend has a Mach, pretty nice car, and man ridin along that shaker is freaken sweet! But the S197 cars are so far advanced. Like my car handles just as good as his, but isn't near as rough....Oh and for those wonderin, I'm willin to bet that the clutch in the car Timmay drove is stock... I hopped in my friends Mach, and the clutch is just really freaken stiff....When I got back in mine I almost pushed the clutch through the floor...Anyways...Off to Jackass 2.... later

FYI, the fox body Mustangs ran from 1979 through 2004, and were based on the chassis of the 1978 Fairlane. The new platform is by far the best yet.

Fox Body 1979-1998?
New Edge: 1999-2004?

Callahan , you are WRONG. There was not a Fairlane in 78'. You are confused with the FAIRMONT/ZEPHYR.

FOX body cars refers to 79-93
SN-95 refers to 94-04
New Edge refers to the 99-04 cars, due to their "knife edge" body shaping. that car was one of 3 body types designed in the early 90's. In fact it almost became the 94' model, however the rest of the market had not gotten into "knife edge" styling yet. That body was reffered to within FoMoCo as the "Shwarzenegger" (spelled wrong im sure) body. That is why you will here some people call it the "Terminator" car.

The Fox and SN-95 chasis' are similar, with many parts being carryover, but are not the same.

I have many books on Mustangs that I can loan you if you like. I have owned 4 mustangs before my current one. I also worked as a Ford technician for quite some time. I was awarded technician of the year at my dealership at only 18 years old (11 years ago). Please do not correct people with information you are not sure of. Don't believe everything you read in the magazines. Get factory based information to base your input on.

I wonder if other high power/big motor cars have clutches like that(vipers, corvettes, etc.). I think I could get used to it but I would have kept my trade-in if the S197 was that stiff. I guess it isn't too bad but I just wasn't expecting it. But hey, I guess it is kinda nice when you can drive a 300hp 5-speed standard with no shoes.[8D]
