Twister, what have you heard bad about MAC mufflers that would lead you to say they were of bad quality? I haven't heard anything negative about them until your post. I would be interested in any quality issues if you know of any.

Well, I went with the Stingers. Seems like everyone has them and loves them, so I went with them. I am afraid they might not be too different from the Bassani's I have now, they seem to have a similar sound, but I am hoping the Borlas might be a little deeper and a little meaner.

ORIGINAL: fragstertx

Just to clarify, there seems to be two different Borla/Ford Racing muffler sets for the newer stangs. One is the straight through resonator variety and the other is a more traditional muffler with 4" stainless tips. The latter is what comes with the new FR1 power pack from Ford Racing.

Has anyone heard both and if so, what is the difference? Obviously the straight-throughs are louder, but how much louder?

They are cheaper though (Ford Racing). I just ordered mine from the local Ford Dealer. Only $258.00 plus tax.

Are the Borla's only somewhat loud at lower RPMS and then real loud once you are getting on it? I live in a relatively quiet neighborhood. It would be nice to be able to sneak in and out when I have to, but then let her rip when I am in the mood.

Well since you still have your cats im sure it will be quiet. With my o/r x if i go above 3000 it gets loud. But i live in a neighborhood too and i just cruise at night and never got any complaints.

Thanks flewbyu! I know that everyone loves the mufflers that they have put on their stangs, but I went into my search totally unbiased by any opinions. They all for the most part sound pretty good. But I not only wanted them to sound good, but LOOK good.
The MACs not only sound great, but they look great since they are totally chrome. I thought the stock mufflers looked pretty decent since you could see they were stainless from the back so why put on mufflers that either you can't see or they are black? For me it was a no brainer...I'll take a bad *** looking chrome (or polished) set of monster mufflers and pipes over anything else any day.
When I finally get my long tubes, they will be ceramic coated, not just for the heat issue, but because they LOOK badass!
