Mac vs Borla
Please discuss.
Is it true that Borla is louder and deeper? I have also heard that Mac has more of the old school muscle car sound. Borla is straight through and Mac is chambered. Which one will sound better with a catted Mac Prochamber and some resonators?

Sound is pretty subjective, but I think the MACs sound deeper. At least the sound files I've listened to for Borlas sound quieter. I think the Ford Racing mufflers are Borlas so it would make sense that Ford would be providing quieter mufflers than the aftermarket guys. I have MACs so I quess I'm a little prejudiced. If sound is all you're concerned about, it's pretty much anybody's guess, but if you care about how the mufflers look from the back of the car, you'll want to go with polished mufflers. I started out looking at Flowmaster, but when I saw a set of polished Magnaflows on the back of a car, I knew looks were important for me too.
The Flowmaster muffler is black and only the tip is polished. Both Magnaflow and MACs are polished. MACs are actually triple chrome plated over stainless steel. I think the Magnaflows and the MACs are the only sets out there where the mufflers themselves are visible, polished and come with a lifetime warranty. The Magnaflows are a straight through design while the MACs are chambered like Flowmaster. The MACs are completely chrome plated from one end to the other and the tips are 4" rolled, slash cut...bad *** looking.
Good Luck!!!

Yeah looks are definitely important too. Love the look of a 4" tip, which Borla and Mac both have, but I love the fact that you can't see much of a muffler on the Stingers since they are just the narrow resonator type.
Borla is too expensive about 600 dollars for a freaking muffler man please and Macs' are priced right , handsome and sound as good as Steve McQueen's Bullitt Car. Horsepower difference none.

+10 on the Borla's
Look and sound great, and I paid less than $400 on e-Bay. They came from Ford Racing, and it is also stamped on the muffler.
I listened to many sound clips, and it is really hard to tell. I have received MANY positive comments on the Borlas. You will get a resonance at around 1800- 2000 rpm, but it goes away at a higher or lower rpm.
Get what you can afford and if you can hear it in person. Good luck and enjoy.

Just to clarify, there seems to be two different Borla/Ford Racing muffler sets for the newer stangs. One is the straight through resonator variety and the other is a more traditional muffler with 4" stainless tips. The latter is what comes with the new FR1 power pack from Ford Racing.
Has anyone heard both and if so, what is the difference? Obviously the straight-throughs are louder, but how much louder?
